care for koko
MORNING CARE
  1. Take Koko outside to go peepee and poopoo first thing in the morning. She always goes peepee first and sniffs around the yard before going poopoo.
  2. She might want to sniff around the yard a little bit, but you can direct her back inside. If you have time, you can let her explore.
  3. Her circle rug and bed is setup in the living room. She'll most likely guide you to where she wants to lay down. Help her sit down slowly and remove the harness from around her belly.
  4. Feed her a half cup of dog food and fill her water bowl up. Set the food bowl in front of her and the water bowl next to her on the carpet.
  5. You can turn on the large Bluetooth speaker and set it to FM radio at volume 2 so that she can listen to music throughout the day. She'll be alone during the day so she'll appreciate some background noise.
MID-DAY CARE
  1. Take Koko outside to go peepee and poopoo. She always goes peepee first and sniffs around the yard before going poopoo. She doesn't always poopoo during the middle of the day.
  2. She might want to sniff around the yard a little bit, but you can direct her back inside. If you have time, you can let her explore.
  3. Her circle rug and bed is setup in the living room. She'll most likely guide you to where she wants to lay down. Help her sit down slowly and remove the harness from around her belly.
  4. You can double check the large Bluetooth speaker and set it to FM radio at volume 2 so that she can listen to music throughout the day. She'll be alone during the day so she'll appreciate some background noise.
NIGHT CARE
  1. When you get home, bring Koko out to peepee and poopoo. She'll definitely have to go after a long day of waiting. You can feed her a half cup of dog food after you bring her inside.
  2. Take Koko outside to go peepee and poopoo right before bed so that she doesn't need to go again until morning. She always goes peepee first and sniffs around the yard before going poopoo.
  3. She might want to sniff around the yard a little bit, but you can direct her back inside. If you have time, you can let her explore.
  4. After you bring her inside from her final bathroom break, bring her into Nathan's room where you'll be sleeping. She sleeps on the large rug at the end of the bed. Move her water bowl from her living rooms spot to Nathan's room on the little brown doggie paw mat.
HOW TO USE THE SLING + WALK KOKO
When Koko has to go outside, she will usually tell you by barking or standing up with her front legs. Either way, when she sees you pick up the sling, she will know that it is time to go outside and will prepare by propping herself up with her front legs.

  1. Place the sling around her belly by her back legs. Be gentle to make sure you're not pinching.
  2. Connect to handle together will the Velcro strip.
  3. Assist her into standing position.
  4. Be sure to keep the weight off of her back legs, as they can hurt her.
  5. Find the best way to walk while supporting her: I walk with her in the middle of my legs. You can also use you left or right hand and walk beside her, but keep in mind that when she goes to the bathroom, her back-end will drop down and you'll have to support her so she can go to the bathroom.
  6. Always remember to keep weight off. You're only assisting her, so she'll help a little bit.
  7. She will sniff around the yard before peeing and pooping. If you have time, you can let her sniff a little after as well. You can direct her back into the house.
  8. Be sure to help her up and down the front porch step smoothly.

DON'T FORGET TO BE GENTLE.
NATHAN'S ROOM HIGHLIGHTS
My room is equipped with a queen size memory foam mattress, a smart TV, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Echo Dot, and smart-dimmable lights.
  1. Amazon Echo Dot: Ask echo to do things by saying "Echo," and asking Echo to do something for you. For example, if you want to turn on your lights, say, "Echo, turn on nightstand." I have specific words dedicated to my room, so make sure you use, "Nightstand," when you are trying to turn on, off, or dim lights. Here are some other commands unique to my room:
    1. "Echo, I'm home." - Echo will turn on your nightstand light to 100%, and then tell you a dad joke.
    2. "Echo, Good Morning." - Echo will say good morning, turn on your nightstand light to 50%, tell you the Nashville forecast, and compliment you.
    3. "Echo, Good Night." - Echo will say good night and turn off your light.
    4. "Echo, play Bill Withers." - Echo will play a song by Bill Withers. You can do this with any artist.
    5. "Echo, dim nightstand to <insert percentage>." - Echo will dim your nightstand light to spoken percentage. Be sure to say "nightstand."
  2. Smart TV: I will leave the TV and Soundbar remotes on the nightstand next to my bed. To turn on the TV, use the Amazon Firestick remote. This remote will automatically turn on both the TV and the Soundbar.
    1. Netflix: Netflix is ready to use. Select the Netflix app and select "Kokosmacks."
    2. Amazon Prime: Avoid using Amazon Prime as it will charge me.
  3. Bathroom: I have freshly washed towels folded up at the end of my bed. You are free to use my BBW Bourbon body wash and shampoo. I also have tea tree shampoo and conditioner you are welcome to.
  4. If you run into any issues, do not hesitate to call me immediately.

ABOUT KOKO MARIE WINGATE
Koko Marie Wingate, also known as "Kokosmacks," is a 12-year-old Black Labrador & Golden Retriever. She was born on October 2nd, 2005 in Harris County, Georgia along with numerous brothers and sisters. At 11 weeks, she was adopted by Nathan Wingate (age 10) and moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida. After spending a year in Florida, Koko moved with her new family back to Georgia - only 30 minutes away from her birthplace. At 1 years old, she spent time in Columbus experiencing the neighborhood dating life. She had 4+ baby daddy's who she refuses to talk about to this day. Her experiences brought about 9 puppies, 2 of them premature. 7 puppies made it, all female. She says she'll never regret that period of time in her life because it made her a stronger woman. One of her favorite quotes by Jennifer Aniston reads, "There are no regrets in life, just lessons."

Koko then found Jesus in 2007 and completely changed her way of living. In 2008, she moved again with her family to Cusseta, Georgia. She loved exploring the 6-acre land and spent the next 10 years building a life with her family. In 2018, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee and began her new life as a Tennessee resident. She spends much of her days relaxing, listening to music, and occasionally singing karaoke with her roommates. Find out more about Kokosmacks from a recent interview below.

Squeaky or bouncy — what do you look for in a toy?

My dog answer is: Sleep in, have Nathan stretch my legs, get up, explore outside, bark at strangers, explore, eat, nap, ride to the park, explore, play red dot, sleep, eat, get brushed. During this, I want to be surrounded by 3+ people at all times. One of these people need to be petting me. This is just one example of a perfect day for me.

Really, I just love when people I know and love are surrounding me and giving me attention. I don't need a lot to be happy.

Pink. I've always gravitated towards pink. Pink bed, pink collar, pink toys. Recently, Nathan's made me stick with tans and browns though. Said it's because of my eyes.
